Selecting a Flight
Viewing Choices For Your Departing Flight
After searching for a flight (see Searching for a Flight for details), the "Select your departure flight" page appears.
Click the View drop-down menu at the top of the page, and select to view by Segment (for a multi-city trip) or Trip.
The matrix at the top of the page can be used to fine tune the search results:
- Click the Price or Schedule tab to see results by price or schedule.
- Click a particular carrier to display only results for that carrier, or click the number of stops.
- Click a particular cell to see only that choice.
- If an Unused Ticket icon appears for an airline, hover your pointer over the icon to see its approximate value. You can select a flight that has an unused ticket icon in its heading to use the ticket. For details about unused tickets, see Managing Unused Tickets.
- To collapse the matrix, click the Collapse matrix link at the bottom of the matrix. After collapsing the matrix, you can expand the matrix by clicking Expand matrix.
Modifying Search Results
You can modify or filter the search by using the filtering tools under the Your Search heading:
- Click the Modify Search button in the Your Search heading to modify every aspect of your flight search.
- Click the Reset to original search link to reset your filters after making changes to them.
- Click the View all times and airports link to set the Flight Times to their maximum ranges and to select all Nearby Airports.
- To change your flight times for departing and arriving, use the sliders:
Drag each knob in the slider to set the time range. - You can select or deselect (uncheck) nearby airports for departure and arrival in the Nearby Airports section.
Tip: Hover your pointer over the More Details link for a flight to see more information (such as the type of plane), or the Fare Rules link to see the fare basis and booking code for the flight. Click these links to see more information.
Sorting and Selecting the Departing Flight
To sort the flight results, click the sort options at the top of the list of search results. For example, your site may offer sort options such as Company Policy, Cost, Departure, Arrival, or Duration.
To select a flight, click the Select button for the flight. You can also click the Seat map link for the flight, which takes you directly to the Seat Selection page and also selects the flight. See Choosing Seats for a Flight for details.
Tip: You can select a flight that has an unused ticket icon in its heading to use the ticket. The value of the unused ticket will be applied towards purchase at the time of ticketing.
Selecting Your Return Flight
After selecting your departing flight for a round trip, the "Select your return flight page" appears. Follow the same instructions above to sort the search results and select your return flight.
After selecting your departing flight for a multi-city trip, the "Select your next flight page" appears. Follow the same instructions above to sort the search results and select your next flight.
