Selecting and Reviewing a Train Trip

The Flight/Train section for the trip should already have a check mark and be expanded for use. If not, see Starting Your Travel Search.

Entering the Trip Information

Follow these steps to search for, select, and purchase a train trip:

  1. Click the Train tab next to the Flight tab in the Flight/Train section header to enter the trip information. The Train Search page appears.
  2. If you set a default train station in your profile, it appears in the From field. If not, enter a city name or station location in the From field. As you type, suggestions appear, and you can click a suggested station.
  3. Enter a city name or station in the To field.
  4. Enter a date in the Leave field, or click the calendar icon to select a date.
  5. If your site enables selecting a round trip, enter a date in the Return field, or click the calendar icon to select a date.
  6. If your site enables selecting a round trip, select an appropriate time in the Time drop-down menu. For a round trip, choose a time under both Leave and Return.
  7. (Optional) Click Train Options to select the seat class (Coach, Business, or First).
  8. Click the Search button. The search results appear.

Selecting the Train

Select the departure train by clicking the Select button beside that item in the search results. You can click the More Details link under the Select button to see additional information about a selection. You can also make adjustments to departure or arrival times by dragging the Train Times sliders in the left column.

Reviewing the Train Ride

After clicking Select, the Review Your Trip page appears.  Pricing includes any corporate discount rates. Taxes and fees appear if you hover your pointer over the Included in price link. For details about reviewing all elements of a trip, see Reviewing the Trip Elements

You can click Continue to purchase the trip. The Purchase Trip page appears. For details on purchasing a trip, see Purchasing the Trip.

Note: If there is a kiosk at the departure station, the “Deliver ticket by” drop-down menu appears in the Ticketing and Delivery Information section of the Purchase page, and you can choose Email to email the eTicket, or Pickup at departure station to pick up the boarding pass at the kiosk. If there is no kiosk at the departure station, Email is the only choice offered, and you must provide an email address — your default email address appears and you can change it. The email includes the eTicket, which you can take with you on a mobile device and use as a boarding pass. Specific instructions are provided on the confirmation page of your reservation and in the email.
